These Foods Will Help You Sleep

Share:
seven healthy foods to help sleep

Our minds and bodies require sleep in order to function properly. What foods can help sleep? The more sleep we get, the healthier we are mentally and physically, the stronger our immune system works, and the more productive we are. Lack of sleep can lead to high blood pressure, weakened immune systems, depression, heart failure, and even diabetes, heart attack, or stroke.

Almost everyone (exhausted) will try any trick they can to sleep better, from taking sleep supplements like melatonin to changing their bedtime routines. Changing your diet may be all it takes to get a better night’s sleep, CNET reports

We need food for a healthy body and mind, and it affects the way our bodies work. The food you eat can certainly affect how you sleep, according to nutrition experts. While there are a lot of factors that influence how well you sleep, it’s worth looking at what you eat each day to see if it’s preparing you for optimal sleep.

Sleep is improved by eating foods that contain nutrients that promote good health in general, and better sleep as a consequence:

1. Whole grains like oats or quinoa

2. Proteins like poultry and fish

3. Leafy greens and cruciferous veggies

4. Free-range eggs

5. Bananas, kiwis, oranges, berries and other fruits

6. Milk and yogurt

7. Nuts, like almonds and cashews
