Although the link between caffeine and blood pressure, some researchers believe caffeine may block a hormone that keeps arteries widened, resulting in higher blood pressure. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, caffeine can raise blood pressure by up to 10 points within 30 minutes. People with a history of high blood pressure should take extra precautions.

Despite this, not all regular caffeine consumers have high blood pressure. In other cases, caffeine consumption has no long-term effect on blood pressure, so it’s perfectly safe to consume. When you drink caffeine habitually, you may develop a caffeine tolerance over time.

The recommended daily limit for caffeine is 400 milligrams per day-equal to 28 ounces of regular black coffee. An 8-ounce cup of coffee contains 100 milligrams of caffeine. Drinking more than this amount can affect your blood pressure as well as cause anxiety, insomnia, and digestive problems.
