Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring Is In Already

Continuous monitoring of blood pressure is better than cuff-based monitoring systems. However, these systems are cumbersome to operate and inconvenient when traveling. Due to this, cuffless technologies need to be used to create a number of monitors, but these monitors have accuracy issues, such as optical systems.

California-based Vivalink, a medtech company, recently announced the production of a low-profile blood pressure patch that claims to be susceptible to fewer problems.

The patch will continuously display heart rate, ECG trace, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and respiratory rate throughout the day. Rechargeable and reusable, the patch does not require calibration. Vivalink’s CEO Jiang Li spoke with Medgadget about the technology.
